Ingredients
Dried Prawns/Unakka Chemmen -3/4 cup
Freshly Grated Coconut -1cup
Dry Red Chilly-5 or according to ur taste
Shallots/Cheriya ulli-3
Curry leaves-4-5 nos
Coconut oil-1tsp
Salt-to taste
Method
Remove head and tail of the dried prawns ..Wash properly and drain it well. Heat a pan and fry the dried shrimps .Fry them in a medium heat ..When roasted (crisp) transfer this to a bowl and fry the dry red chilly and small onion in the same pan for 1-2 minutes .. Then add all the fried prawns ,grated coconut,dry chilly ,shallots ,curry leaves and salt together in to a jar of the mixer and crush them ..No need to grind too much …Just crush well.We need everything to mix together…Thats all…Check the salt.Finally pour 1tsp of coconut oil to the chammanti and mix well ….
The mouthwatering chemmeen chammanthi is ready ….Have it with Rice …No need for other dishes
and off course Kanji (rice soup) is also a great combination with chammanthi …It won`t taste as good as my amma` s chemmen chammanthi ..She used to grind it in the ammikallu …U can just guess that taste …isn`t???
